Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities has recently launched two online exhibitions under the umbrella of Studio 244, titled “Inspired by Culture” and “Inspired by Muharraq” on BACA’s official website.

Bahrain Culture Authority had previously launched an open call for all participants interested in taking part in these two art events, receiving a wide participation and interactive manifestations, given the richness of the content of these exhibitions, diversity and creative artworks.

“Inspired by Culture” is an online exhibition that seeks to highlight two weekly hashtags used by to shed light on the museums and tourism in Bahrain. #MuseumMonday: Throughout this tag, we highlight information on archeological museums in the Kingdom, focusing on the permanent artifacts and collections on display, as well as temporary exhibitions hosted. ##TouristTuesday: Throughout this tag, we promote cultural tourism by spotlighting archaeological and cultural sites in the Kingdom, detailing their visitor hours.  The 18 participating artworks so far accepted figure painting, photography, collage and graphic artworks.

 “Inspired by Muharraq”, is a photography exhibition as part of BACA’s strategy to shed lights on urban aspects of the city of Muharraq and encourage participants to explore the ongoing changes, developments and restoration works that the city has undergone. The online visitor can enjoy a myriad of photos depicting historical houses of the old city, major characteristics of Pearling Path, a UNESCO World Heritage List site and a multitude of natural landscape views.   

The exhibition titled “Inspired by Muharraq” is a part of the initiatives held to celebrate Muharraq, recognized as the UNESCO Creative City of Design in 2019. Indeed, Bahrain Culture Authority had previously received 58 participation requests by photographers from Bahrain, Bangladesh, UK, USA, Holland, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand. 78 pictures were selected finally out of 123 received to be showcased on the online exhibition.
