Curtain Falls on “Dive into the Jurassic” Exhibition held at Bahrain National Museum Next Sunday

Just one week separates us from the closing of the “Dive into the Jurassic” exhibition,  which is curated and produced by the Natural History Museum (London) and is generously supported by the British Council, at and hosted by the Bahrain National Museum. The exhibition, which will close on 15 March 2020, was inaugurated by H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, on 15 December 2019, on behalf of H.E Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and the President of the Supreme Council for Environment.

Held for the first time in Bahrain, “Dive into the Jurassic, exhibition takes visitors on a journey beneath the waves to meet the amazing creatures that inhabited the oceans 200 million years ago at a time when dinosaurs ruled the land.

The exhibition brings together immersive CGI films with original fossils and replica casts from the Natural History Museum’s unique marine fossil collections to bring the ancient seas to life. The exhibition is designed to appeal to a large range of audiences with interactive elements, CGI films, atmospheric soundscapes and touchable objects such as fossils and replica skins of marine life to provide visitors with a unique immersive experience. The on-going “Dive into the Jurassic” continues its display, bringing an interactive exhibition that, unlike the standard exhibition, has touchable artifacts and immersive CGI that will submerge visitors into the ancient sea.

The exhibition is part of UK –GCC exhibitions programs, a common program launched in 2017 by DCMS and GREAT through the UK-Gulf Culture and Sport Programme, and supported by the British Council. The idea behind this was to find partners in the GCC region to hold and organize art and culture exhibitions, accompanied by general cultural agendas, enhancing the exchange of mutual programs with regard to culture, art and heritage between the UK and the GCC countries.

Worth to mention that “Dive into the Jurassic” exhibition has been generously supported by the British Council, DCMS and GREAT through the UK-Gulf Culture and Sport programme to support and encourage new partnerships and collaborative projects between institutions in the United Kingdom and the Gulf.
