H.E Director General of Culture and Arts Receives Al-Jazeera Cultural Center delegation to discuss ways of reinvigorating its bright status and achievements

After last week unfortunate events that the Al Jazeera Cultural Center subjected to, including the demolition, destruction and destruction of historical documents and photos of the center, which represent the most important historical era of the cultural and theatrical movement in the city of Muharraq for more than 50 years, H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director General of Culture and Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, received the Center’s delegation headed by Mr. Mohammed Al-Jazzaf, Honorary President For the Center, and the presence of Mr. Hamad Al-Maraj, poet Ibrahim Al-Ansari, Mr. Abdul Muniem Al-Eid and Mr. Youssef Al-Saati.

During the meeting, H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa said that the cultural centers in the Kingdom of Bahrain are one of the pillars of civil cultural work and are monuments to enlightenment and civilized work. H.E affirmed BACA’s support for the Al-Jazeera Cultural Center, which was demolished, and its support for all its steps to get out of its crisis. H.E also stressed out that the Culture Authority supports all cultural centers, enhancing their role in a way that contributes to attracting the local community to its activities and transforming its cultural production, enhancing Bahrain’s cultural status.

In addition, H.E said that the try to erase the Center’s literary, theatrical and social activity spanned over 50 years, until it became a well-known national cultural center inside and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, will not send positive messages to the arts and culture lovers here and abroad. BACA’s Director- General of Culture and Arts added that H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, has an immediate an immediate search for an alternative headquarters for the Center as soon as possible, along Pearling Path site in Muharraq, to enable the center to carry out various cultural, administrative and other activities.

For his part, Mr. Muhammad Al-Jazzaf, the Honorary President of the Al-Jazeera Cultural Center, expressed his thanks to the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities for its constant support for everything that would advance the cultural movement in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Al Jazzaf also noted that the center has always contributed to enriching the civil cultural action work in the Kingdom, expressing readiness to cooperate with the authority in order to implement the solutions that would restore the center of the island its previous position.
