A Russian parliamentary delegation, led by the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Ms. Valentina Matviyenko, visited the Bahrain National Museum, where they were received by Her Excellency Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director General of Culture and Arts, at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.

Mrs. Matvienko was tour- guided and briefed on major permanent exhibitions hosted by museum, the magnificent halls and sections that display a selection of artifacts, and art masterpieces. The role played by Bahrain National Museum to enhance the cultural scene and movement, and how it is considered as a crucial tool to preserve Bahrain’s deeply-rooted history and heritage, was highlighted during this visit. The Russian delegation toured a number of halls of the Bahrain National Museum, including the museum's sections containing a group of important artifacts and collectibles that reflect Bahrain's historical legacy that extends from the era of the Dilmun civilization until today.

In addition, the delegation toured the famous Burial Hall, which provides visitors with an idea about the site of the Dilmun Burial Mounds, which is registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. They were acquainted during this visit with the role played by the Bahrain National Museum in advancing the cultural movement in Bahrain and its hosting of many regional and international exhibitions.

Mrs. Valentina Matvienko also visited the world-class Bahrain National Theater and was delighted to discover its cutting-edge ballet room facilities, most important rendez-vous achievements and role in enhancing Bahrain's cultural standing, as well as hosting various international artistic and musical performances.
