H.E Shaikha Mai Receives Minister of Works, Common urban projects discussed
Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, received His Excellency Eng. Essam Khalaf, Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, at the Bahrain National Museum on 28 January 2021.
The two parties exchanged views on the most important joint cultural projects between the Bahrain Authority for Culture and the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, stressing the importance of cooperation and integration in order to strengthen cultural infrastructure.
In addition, they also discussed the ways and means of developing and enhancing Shaikha Hamad Street, in the Old city of Muharraq, which aims to improve the aesthetical visual identity, in harmony with the historical city’s character and the Pearling Path unique aspects, planned to be completed by the end of year.
The meeting also reviewed the pioneering project of regaining and revitalizing the visual identity of Manama Municipality building, which was previously announced in 2019 on its 1st anniversary celebration.
As to “Creative Industries”, project launched by Bahrain Culture Authority at the Industrial School in Manama, H.E Shaikha Mai has asserted that BACA will rehabilitate and re-accommodate the historical building units of the Industrial School Manama to become the headquarters’ main ’venue hosting the creative industries. BACA will also seek to rebuild and restore the visual and urban identity of the school, and try to bring back the historical sweet memories related to this school and its urban elements.
