Five P.M. at Bab

In the heart of ​​Bab Al-Bahrain, specifically in its front outdoor space(the market area), the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities organizes a weekly activity every Thursday at 5:00 pm, including various cultural activities from music to handicrafts, heritage, arts and food. This event is open to the public; all are invited to participate and enjoy the festive atmosphere.


October 2018:

October 11: Musical Evening: Ismaeel Dawas Band
Ismaeel Dawas folk band will present a traditional musical evening in Bab Al-Bahrain that brings us back to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s folklore.

October 18: Burial Mounds Workshop
This workshop will explain the Dilmun burial mounds to children, followed by a physical educational activity which allows them to create similar figures.

October 25: "Live Drawing" Workshop
This workshop will allow participants to hand-sketch the area around Bab Al-Bahrain(the Bab and Souq) under the supervision of a Bahraini artist.

November 2018:

November 1: Handicrafts Market
A number of Bahraini craftsmen will display their handmade products to the public along with a live musical performance.


November 8: Food at Bab
This week's event invites the audience to get a taste of various food cuisines, accompanied by a live musical band.


November 15: The Little Guide
This workshop will allow children to learn about the most significant archaeological sites of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

November 22: Art Students at Bab
Art students from the University of Bahrain will participate in a cultural activity in front of the Bab where they will hand-sketch live to the public.


November 29: A Musical Evening: Qalali Band
Qalali Band celebrates with a traditional musical evening in Bab Al-Bahrain, bringing us back to the popular music genre of “Fjiri”.


December 2018:

December 6: Manama through the Lens
The outcome of the photography open call launched on social media, which includes the submitted photos of Manama during the month of November 2018, will be present through this event by showcasing the selected printed photos at the Bab.


December 13: Musical Evening
During the National Day celebrations, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities invites the public for a musical evening at the Bab.


December 20: Calligraphy Workshop
In celebration of Arabic Language Day (18 December), the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities presents a workshop which consists of learning how to write Arabic calligraphy and its techniques on special paper made of palm tree.

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities invites children to attend a narration of short stories and interact with them.
