Folk Popular Music Arts Animates The Annual Bahrain Heritage Festival 5th Day

The 27th  edition of the Annual Bahrain Heritage Festival, held this year,  near Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al Fatih Fort in Riffa, under the theme “ Arabian Horses”, continues to present its daily events and activities for the 5th day, presenting, on 28 April 2019,  offering an array of rich program of different events, such as an exceptional two folk popular music concerts by Dar Qalali Music Band and Mohammed bin Fares Music Band.

Dar Qalali Music Band echoed and revived old nostalgic music atmosphere, offering the public the opportunity to set sail with the musical sounds in a lyrical voyage into the world of Al-samri and Fijri arts, which form an important part of Bahraini memory and heritage.

Mohammed bin Fares Music Band, which consists of the finest artists among members of the folk groups in the Kingdom, offered a bouquet of exceptional traditional famous Muharraq’s city folk music performances, which regaled audiences with tales of a pealing diver’s life from festive melodies to working songs and farewell ballads,  namely the Fijjri art, the unique, the intangible heritage of the Kingdom of Bahrain mystical genre  that traces its roots back to the days of the island’s glorious pearling legacy.  Mohammed Bin Faris band  performs a selection of gifted young musicians, faithful to the spirit of the Traditional Bahraini music, which they inherited from their ancestors and they are keen to preserve and develop its ancient origins.

The Annual Bahrain Heritage Festival will run until 3 May and visitors can enjoy the event on a daily basis from 5:00 pm-9:00 pm. Worth to mention that the annual Heritage Festival also features exhibitions that highlight the originality of Arabian horses in Bahrain, such as the "Horse and Rider" exhibition that includes a variety of equipment related to horses and riders, as well as photography exhibition, shedding lights on “Royal Horses”. The festival also features a collection of horse paintings and manuscripts from the Bahrain National Museum. The plastic art will be present at the  festival through “ Heritage Inspiration” exhibition.

 On the sidelines of the heritage festival, a popular traditional market is  organized offering an array of products,  like local frankincense, clothing, coffee, and may laqqah. Visitors are certainly be pleased by a traditional food-tasting experience inside the festival venue courtyard cafés, offering folk and traditional foods and drinks, dishes that are  lively and freshly  made.  The festival, keen to enhance the awareness about the composing elements of the Bahraini heritage with regard to genuine authentic Arabian horses legacy, also presents a series of workshops for all ages.

Worth to mention that the 27th  edition of the Annual Bahrain Heritage Festival is sponsored by Ammar Basheir “Studio for Art , the Creative Design Company” and Al Baddad International company. Many government ministries have contributed to the organization and success of this festival, such as Ministry of Works, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Awqaf, Ministry of Health, Southern Governorate,   as well as Alia Flowers and  AA Car Rental.
