H.E Attends “21,39 Jeddah Arts” Annual Events, H.E : “This Initiative reflects the creativity and exceptional talents of Saudi artists”

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, attended the 6th  edition of Jeddah Art 21,39 initiative, themed overall this year as Al Obour, or “crossing”. The initiative is  being organized by Saudi Art Council in Saudi Arabia and  held under the patronage of HRH Princess Jawaher bint Majid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Speaking for the occasion, H.E said “ As in every year we are keen to be present at this special cultural event at the request of the generous invitation bestowed upon me by HRH Princess Jawaher bint Majid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. We are eager to discover  the new tendencies and keep up with the latest arts’ beauties of Jeddah Art 21,39 initiative. We are pleased every time we come here to see reflection of the creativity and exceptional talents of Saudi artists and the ingenuity  of the organizers”.  H.E added “It is with great pride to laud and praise the huge developments witnessed in Saudi Arabia,  a progress in all fields and sectors, especially the in culture and arts, which are booming at an unprecedented pace”.

21,39’ Jeddah Arts is a two-month long programme of exhibitions, workshops, studio visits and talks highlighting the narrative of the art scene in Saudi Arabia  and the Arab Gulf region. For its 6th edition under this year’s theme overall is Al Obour, or “crossing” – such as the new crossing into the old, the exterior crossing into the inside and, crucially, different generations crossing paths. The annual event, now a fixture of the burgeoning Middle Eastern art scene, includes exhibitions in three venues, educational workshops, visits to artists’ studios and commercial gallery openings, showcasing male and female Saudi Arabian artists alongside invited international artists.

Worth to mention that 21,39’ Jeddah Arts is a non-profit initiative launched by the Saudi Art Council in February 2014. It is  an annual programme with series of  arts events and activities, which presents an exclusive insight into the talent and cultural landscape of the country. Inspired by the geographic coordinates of the city (21.5433°N, 39.1728°E), ‘21,39’ Jeddah Arts showcases a narrative of art in the country, emphasizing the history of The Kingdom’s modern and contemporary movements, and those who play integral roles in enriching Saudi art on the map.
