Amid the Official Week-Long National Mourning Period Following the Death of the Late Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Culture Authority Postpones Celebrations of Islamic Art Day’s Events Next week

 

While the Kingdom of Bahrain is still holding seven days of national mourning following the death of the Late Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain, May God Bless His Soul, and given the sad grieving atmosphere that swept the country, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities announces the postponement of Islamic Art Day celebrations’ events, which have been rescheduled to 25 November 2020.
 
Tailored for this special this occasion, which falls November 18 of each year, the Culture Authority has masterminded an exceptional rich program of events that sheds light on the outstanding unique beauty of Islamic art, celebrating all its manifestations and all its aspects. The program includes exhibitions on architecture and arts from Bahrain and the world, a seminar held remotely and hosting a number of the most important researchers and workers in the field of Islamic arts, and international film screenings on Islamic art. The authority will reveal the detailed program for this program early next week.

It is worth mentioning that the 40th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Paris, adopted, the 18th of November as International Day of Islamic Art, following the recommendation of the Executive Council to approve the proposal of the Kingdom of Bahrain regarding the 18th of November as International Day of Islamic Art. This initiative came along with many events and projects as part of celebrations’ program of Muharraq as Capital of Islamic Culture 2018.
