Jacqueline de Freitas, a British artist who lived in Bahrain for 40+ years, first attended art classes at Highbury College, Portsmouth in 2006. As a natural at drawing she found that she also had a talent for painting and during the past ten years has painted regularly. Over the years she has attended numerous classes, workshops and courses in Bahrain and at West Dean College in UK which has enabled her art to progress significantly.
In 2007 Jacqueline set up an Art Group within an international women’s' association, of which she is a member and it was not long before they held exhibitions. Being in contact with other artists encouraged her to paint and improve her knowledge, techniques and most of all it opened her mind to other styles and possibilities. Jacqueline usually, and successfully, exhibits in two or more group exhibitions per annum with the last being held during November 2016.
Today Jacqueline paints in acrylics (her favorite medium), oils and watercolors and enjoys learning new techniques and trying out new art products. She used to concentrate on realistic art but in the last few years has taken an interest in impressionism and abstract art both of which she finds more exploratory and satisfying. These days she is working mainly on abstract art and portrait painting while also exploring silk screen printing.
