Mariam Fakhro
Currently working mainly in canvas and acrylic, although she has a history of experience with oil on canvas as well.
Graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Beirut Arab University in Lebanon and has been a member of the Bahrain Arts Society since 1985.
Early in her career as an artist, Mariam also established and ran Laffan Gallery for a few years curating shows for some of Bahrain’s most high profile artists as well as some regional and international artists. She also coordinated the curation of over 25 Art exhibition during her role at the Ministry of Information at the Bahrain National Museum and Arts Center between 1991 and 2000.
Mariam Fakhro lives and works in Bahrain and regularly exhibits in and outside Bahrain and joins the Annual Exhibitions at Bahrain National Museum and Bahrain Art Society Exhibitions, as well as a number of Charity exhibitions over the past three decades.
The top exhibitions and shows include: The exhibition , curated by Art Select on 2016 for selected Bahraini Artists, held in London. The launch of the exhibition was launched at Victoria & Albert museum, UK.
In 2016 She joined the Views international exhibition which was curated by Bahrain Art Society at Ritz Carlton. Before that, she also joined Dr Suad Al Sabah in Kuwait .
She Had a private section at the first edition of international Art BAAB Bahrain exhibition (2015) in Manama . She also joined the 40th Anniversary for Bahrain Annual Fine Arts and the 30th Anniversary for the Bahrain Art society. Her first solo exhibition was on 2011 under patronage of HRH Princess Sabeeka Bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa at The Art Center in Bahrain . In 2010 she went Doha for the Bahraini Female Artist, celebrating Doha as The Capital of Arab culture.
In 2007 she had joint show with Artist Balqees Fakhro and Ali Almahmeed.
In 2006 she was invited to Aseelah Culture Festival, Morocco. She joined Arab Culture festival-UNESCO, Paris, France.
At the same year exhibited in joint show on the sidelines of the Formula One Grand Prix at the Economic Development Board's stand-Kingdom of Bahrain.
She joined the symposium and shows at Aley, Rass Almitin and Eden, Lebanon. 2002. She also exhibited in Beirut with Bahraini artist at the show held by Ministry of information under the patronage of HE Mrs Baheiya Alhareery.
She has sold many of her art work which are now part of private collections in Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Boston, Paris.
