Inspired by the natural and historical composition of the Kingdom of Bahrain, from the ancient Dilmun civilisation to the modern era, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities' slogan for 2020 is "Dilmun: Land of Density." Through this theme, we set out to explore how density manifests itself within the local context through the lens of the myriad influences that ifiltrated this important geographical region of the history of the Dilmun civilisation which existed here from 2300 to 400 BC. Over this period, it left behind a vast amount of historical evidence and monuments that shaped various facets of life, from economic activity to cultural practices. Indeed, to this day, density constitutes a tool that highlights how societies flourished and showcased their cultural heritage.
“Dilmun: Land of Density” features numerous art and cultural programmes and events dedicated to celebrating the incredible density of the historical and cultural assets of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
