Manama welcomes 2014 with an all-new theme, “Year of the Arts ”. Revolving around the seven arts, a full slate of events is planned around this theme, kicking off with the 40th annual Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition. The popular yearly event will be accompanied by a whole host of activities, as part of Manama’s year-long cultural festivities
The exhibition will be inaugurated on January 14th by HRH Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, who has been graciously patronizing the exhibition since its launch in 1974 . Four decades will be encapsulated in one year, bridging cultures and civilizatons from across the world together through the universal language of art.
The year-long festivities coincide with Manama’s selection as Capital of Asian Tourism 2014, an honor bestowed upon it thanks in large part to its dynamic cultural and tourism movements over the past two years when it was selected Capital of Arab Culture 2012 and Capital of Arab Tourism 2013. The nomination is expected to open up new avenues of communication with countries around the world, especially within Asia.
