Al-Murada:

 

  • it is one of the ancient lyrical and dance arts, which were performed by women only and on certain occasions such as: holidays, launching a new ship into the sea, when the sick is cured, and the travelers return from travel. Twenty to thirty girls participate in the syntax. They stand in two opposite and parallel rows, and each girl holds the palm of the other, and they begin in the first row to sing a section of the poem with their arms raised to the top, and their feet hit the ground advancing towards the second row, then they go back. After that, the second row begins as the first row did, and this is repeated until the end of the poem.
  • Al-Murada are songs performed by women, which are implicitly dedicated to their husbands and children. The lyrics of these songs express the hope of seeing their husbands and children are safe after their diving trip.

 

Wedding Festivities:

 

  • The wedding night in urban areas is characterized by a festive atmosphere in which joy and pleasure prevail. On the wedding night, many arts are practiced, such as: the art of Al-Ashouri, the art of Al-Dazza, and other arts.
  • The art of sound is a group of songs, melodies and rhythms, famous in the Arab Gulf region and reflecting the environment that produced them, where the artist sings and sings to the melodies and melodies of classical and colloquial poetic poems, on the various vocal melodic maqams.

- Al-Dazza Art: an art characterized by the speed of musical forms as it is performed at the beginning and end of the wedding ceremony. This art aims to publicize the marriage and organize all participants in the marriage ceremony while adjusting the steps for the wedding procession heading to the bride’s house. Also, this art contains rhythmic motifs unique to the tar player, i.e. Al-Saqoul, in which he uses tires and two drums on which he hits with sticks.

- Al-Ashouri Art: a percussive, lyrical art that was famous for the people of the Gulf and has a high place among the ceremonial arts in the region.

 

Traditional Music (Al-Sut):

 

  • Songs and music are part of the life of Bahrainis, who express their feelings and feelings through the use of musical instruments that reflect their lives during occasions, festivals and weddings. These songs and musical traditions are transmitted from one generation to another.
  • The name of (Al-Sut) is given to a type of singing that is subject to its own rhythms, accompanied by simple instruments performed by the artist, based on old melodies that have not changed. When he creates new rhythms and melodies based on modern artistic trends, he continues to preserve its taste and the sweetness of its historical and emotional fragrance.

 

Children Festivities:

 

  • There are many popular and traditional celebrations for children in Bahrain, such as Al-Hayya Beyya, Al-Gergaoun, and Al-Yenon.

- Al-Hayya Beyya: Al-Hayya Beyya is a type of popular celebration that takes place during the pause of Arafat (the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah in the Hijri calendar), that is, the day before Eid al-Adha, the day on which the pilgrims stand at the level of the pure Arafat from sunset to dawn. In this celebration, the children prepare one week before, by preparing and planting plants and observing their growth as they green and grow, until the promised day comes, then the children throw plants and plants into the sea, (an area known for its fresh water springs). The celebration of Al-Hayya Bayya is characterized by the character of the ancient Bahraini heritage, through the children wearing the traditional dress, the girls wearing the traditional dress “Al-Bakhng” embroidered with Zari thread, and the boys wearing “Al-Thoub”, expressing their joy on this traditional occasion. The custom has continued to this day thanks to the adherence of the people of Bahrain to their customs and traditions, and the interest of institutions and associations concerned with culture and heritage, as it is one of the celebrations of the blessed Eid al-Adha, so young and old express their joy in this annual heritage.

- Al-Gergaoun: It is a traditional folk celebration, which takes place at the end of the first half of Ramadan, especially among the peoples of the Arab Gulf region. During this celebration, people gather with each other in a joyful atmosphere. It is customary for children to wear traditional clothes and roam in their area during this event. Or the neighborhood in which they live knocks on the neighbors’ doors and sings the song of Al- Gergaoun and the family, and sweets and nuts, such as hazelnuts and various types of sweets, are served. As for children’s clothing in the Gergaoun, girls wear “Al-Bakhng” the traditional dress of the girl in the old days, It is a black cover made of transparent “chiffon” or georgette fabric. Al-Bakhng is decorated with some inscriptions engraved with golden threads, and a gold ornament called the crescent is usually placed. The girl's costume is different nowadays from the past, as the costumes have increased from traditional clothes and are available in many shapes and in bright colors. As for the boys in the past, they did not have a specific dress, they wear the available clothes (the traditional dress) in addition to the (Al-Qahfiya) head-cap. Today, the general features of the Gergaoun night have changed, as the parents interest in decorating their children has increased, where the boys wear the (Sudairy) and (Al-Qahfiya), and others wear Dakhla.

- Al-Yenon: It is a traditional custom celebrated by the children's parents when the first age of their children appears, where they invite the children of relatives and friends to participate in the celebration.
