Al Sabagh Making Workshop

Details of the Workshop:

Al Jasra Crafts Centre will organize an Al Sabagh Making workshop. Al Sabagh, made of palm tree fronds, is one of the household utensils used extensively in the past, and their manufacture was considered one of the prominent traditional crafts at that time. In addition to Al Sabagh Making, palm fronds are used in the manufacture of many household items such as dining mats, small plates, and hand fans. In the past, this profession was widely practiced in Bahraini villages such as Karbabad, Al Jasra and Al Budaiya.

 Workshop topics include:

1st Week     :        Learning the basics of Al Sabagh Making.

2nd Week     :        Finishing the twisting, twining, wicker, and coiling processes of
                             the model.  

3rd Week     :         Finishing the twisting, twining, wicker and coiling processes of
the model.     

Workshop Outcomes:

 Making Al Sabagh.
