Copper Shaping Workshop

Details of the Workshop:

Al Jasra Crafts Centre is organising a workshop on the art of copper shaping. Metal shaping by pressure is considered one of the most important methods of shaping, and copper shaping is among the most enjoyable skills within artistic works, with its results being astonishing in a short period of time. Copper sheets, after being shaped, are used as independent artistic panels, integrated into other artistic works, or even used to wrap some products such as boxes and containers. Copper is also valued both for its material and aesthetic qualities, representing a rich heritage in the field of handicrafts.

Workshop topics include:

• Learn about the types of copper and their properties.
• View examples of previously executed copper artworks.
• Learn about the different methods of forming and working on copper.
• Knowing the materials and tools used in copper embossing method.
• Explanation and practical application of copper embossing skills.
• Display the copper rusting Methods.
• The use of copper in artwork and products.
• Implementation of an integrated product using the materials and tools available by embossing copper.
• Display the final artwork made during the course.

Workshop Outcomes:

• Enable the trainee to distinguish between different types of copper and the uses of each type.
• Knowing the different methods of forming on copper and mastering the method of copper embossing
• Implementation of an integrated product that gives the trainee all the required experience in copper embossing.

 Age: 18 & above.
