Terrazzo Art Workshop

Details of the Workshop:

Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre is organising The Terrazzo Art with Seashells Workshop. Terrazzo is a composite material, poured in place or precast, which is used for floor and wall treatments. It consists of chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass, or other suitable materials, poured with a cementitious binder, polymeric, or a combination of both.

 Terrazzo is a flooring material consisting of chips of marble or granite set in concrete and polished to give a smooth surface.

Workshop topics include:

• Explain the material used, its features and characteristics.
• Present alternative materials for the material.
• Identify the appropriate colors for the material and its alternatives
• How to cast molds
• Identify methods for removing colored terrazzo pieces from the piece
• How to protect and polish the final work
• Answers to all questions and inquiries
• Present places to sell the material and its supplies and some advice.

 Workshop Outcomes

• 3 works for each trainee
• Participants will be able to apply the techniques learnt to produce different objects in the future.
