Al Jasra Handicrafts Center is organizing a workshop on the basics of Engraving on Gypsum. Bahrain has long been known for its aesthetic architecture, in which its technicians and craftsmen have created a spirit of authentic Bahraini character. One of the most beautiful features of this architecture in Bahrain is the gypsum inscriptions that covered the houses, especially those owned by well-known families in Bahrain, which still exist in large cities such as Muharraq and Manama, which are one of the most important features of traditional architecture in Bahrain, especially given its accuracy, elegance and strength and reflect the creativity and imagination of the Bahraini craftsman.
The gypsum discussion used simple tools such as homemade knives as well as rulers, quills and other tools that helped him draw the various inscriptions placed in different murals, window frames, arches and other parts of the old house, and the gypsum was used not only for the aesthetic element in it, but also for the nature of the gypsum or plaster that pulls moisture and absorbs it at night, and when the sun rises this moisture evaporates and adds a pleasant atmosphere to the rooms and the house.
