Al Jasra Handicrafts Center organizes “Basket-Making” workshop. Indeed, basket weavers use palm leaves to make several items that can be found in Bahraini homes, such as dining mats, storage baskets, small dishes, hand fans and chicken coops. It is one of the most widespread and famous handcrafts, and many still practice this traditional craft in several villages throughout the island, namely in the villages of Karbabad, Jasra, and Budaiya.
Workshop topics include:
1st Week : Learning the basics of basket-making
2nd Week : Finishing the twisting, twining, wicker and coiling processes of the model.
3rd Week : Finishing the twisting, twining, wicker and coiling processes of the model.
4th Week & 5th Week : Finishing the Plaiting, Twining, Wicker and Coiling processes of the stereotype
