This tour will look at a series of case studies that articulate the changes in architectural and urban form from pre-independence Bahrain to the end of the first decade after independence. After that, they will visit the Chamber of Commerce, Bab Al Bahrain, Manama Municipality and Bahrain Hotel. These are not the only examples, but will be the stops for the tour. The aim of the tour is to understand the relationship between architectural symbols, facade design, and the idea of a waterfront as a face for a new nation.
