Al Naqda Embroidery for Beginners

Al Jasra Handicrafts Center is holding a creative interactive workshop on Introduction to Al Naqda Embroidery and techniques.  Al Naqda art is part of old Bahraini traditional heritage, when in those days women’s attire were hand embroidered with real silver thread utilizing a special needle known as “Al naqda”.

Definition of the Workshop’s aims:

The workshop aims to habilitate, teach and train a certain category of Bahraini female society to be qualified as professional craftswomen, engaged in the Bahraini local ndustries market affiliated to the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities. In addition, the workshop seeks to include these female participants into the Popular Folk Directorate (Bahraini Naqda Art).

 Objectives of Al-Naqda Embroidery Weaving Workshop for all levels (Level1, Intermediate and Advanced):  

 -           Preserving the Bahraini cultural heritage and providing a supportive environment for it.

-           Prepare and habilitate Bahraini women to be qualified masters of Al-Naqda Art.

-           Enhance the creative side of the trainees, as handicrafts are a means of leisure, entertainment, and useful leisure time.

-           Train and teach female trainers how to be successively capable of coming up with market-based products and to achieve continuity and sustainability in that regard.

-           Creating job opportunities that enhance the financial element of the trainees, especially women and housewives, helping them reach self-sufficiency.

-           Unleash and unlock human potential to benefit society.

-           Help create and prepare future fashion designers who are able to compete locally and internationally.

Coming up with a simple embroidered piece designed and made by the trainee.

 

  • Follow up and review previous stitches with the trainees.

 

  • Identify the Four- stitch embroidery technique, Al-Loozia stich and Al Loozia vacuoles.

 

  • Getting to know the Al Nagda tools.

 

  • How to deal with Al Nagda khoos strands.
  • Teaching trainees Al Nagda stitches.
  •   Learning the basic of Al Nagda stich.

 

 

10:00 am – 12:30 pm (7:30 Hours)

 

Age: 13 and above.
