Arabic Calligraphy Workshop

Workshop Overview:

Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre is hosting an Arabic calligraphy workshop. The workshop includes an introduction to the history of Arabic calligraphy and the main types of scripts that constitute this art form. It also provides an overview of the tools used and how to employ them according to the type of script. This is followed by an explanation of how to write the letters and their connections in Diwani script, as well as learning the guidelines for writing them correctly.

First Day:

Introduction to the history of Arabic calligraphy and the types of main fonts, the participants will learn about the tools used and how to employ them. This is followed by an explanation of how letters are written and their connections.

Following Days:

Explanation of how to write some letters and their connections, and the rules that follow to write them correctly, with correction.

Workshop Topics:

  • History of Arabic calligraphy and its main fonts.
  • History of Arabic Diwani script and its rules.
  • Learn the tools used in Arabic calligraphy.
  • How to write letters and words.

Workshop Outcomes:

  • Identify the types of Arabic calligraphy and the tools used.
  • Be able to write letters and words.
