Saff - Palm Tree Leaves Weaving (Al Mahafa)

Workshop Overview:

Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre is organising a Saff - Palm Tree Leaves Weaving (Al Mahafa) workshop. The workshop reflects the optimal use of palm fronds and transforms them into daily tools used by older generations, such as dining mats, storage baskets, small plates, and handheld fans. This is considered one of the traditional crafts and is still practiced in Bahraini villages such as Karbabad, Al Jasra, and Budaiya.

 Workshop topics include:

• Practicing saff and dealing with palm fronds
• Training with various types of saff.
• Weaving - saff.

 Workshop Outcomes:

• Make a handheld fan (Al Mahafa).
