Terrazzo Table Workshop

Workshop Overview:

Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre, in collaboration with Meraki Art Space, organises a Terrazzo Workshop. It consists of pieces of marble, quartz, granite, glass, or other suitable materials, poured with a cementitious binder, polymeric, or a combination of both. Terrazzo is a strong, not very expensive  and durable material.

Workshop Topics:

Day 1

• Learn about Terrazzo marble making and its history.
• Learn about cement materials.
• Lern about terrazo marble chips and how can you  put more dividers if you want more color changes in the flooring to create colorful cement flakes.

Day 2

• Learn about the cement mix and mode of traditional terrazzo floors technique.
• Learn how to make a terrazo- based table and decorative styles.

Day 3

• Learn how to do a terrazo tabletop smooth finish including sanding and surface cleaning.
• Making a beautiful Terrazzo table, wherby participants will be able to apply the techniques taught to produce different objects in the future.
