Making Rosaries Workshop

Workshop Overview:

Jasra Handicrafts Centre is hosting a workshop on a Rosary Making. The World of Rosaries is an interactive heritage experience that takes you on an exciting journey through the history, culture and craftsmanship of rosaries, from the depths of ancient civilisations to authentic Bahraini handicrafts.

Workshop Topics:

• Recognise all the basic tools for making a rosary.
• Define the rosary and its multiple uses: Religious, spiritual, cultural and decorative.
• Recognise the history of the rosary globally.
• Recognise the rosary in the culture and heritage of Bahrain and other cultures.
• Recognise the types of stones used.
• Recognise the methods of making spacers.
• Learn how to execute the Imam.
• Learn about the final finishing stages of the piece from sanding to polishing.
• Learn how to organise the rosary.
• Learn how to tie and hide the knots.
• Learn how to make rosaries by hand.

Workshop Overview:

• Participants get to keep their own rosary.
