The Young Artisan - Gypsum Engraving Workshop

Workshop Overview:

As part of "The Young Artisan" programme, Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre is hosting a Gypsum Engraving workshop. Gypsum carvings, which once decorated old Bahraini houses, are one of the most significant features of traditional architecture created by artisans. This workshop offers participants the opportunity to create a model house that replicates traditional gypsum houses.

Workshop Topics:

• Introduction to traditional houses
• Identify the materials used in building old houses
• Identify the types of gypsum decorations in ancient homes
• Decorate house models and colour them

• Create a model of an old house with gypsum decorations
