From the beginning of human history, nature has played a vital role in our creative expression. Reflection is a process which encourages being present, aware, mindful and creative. It is a process which has been encouraged through the ages amongst scholars, artisans and individuals who have an interest and curiosity about the outer universe and the universe they carry within. This exhibition displays the works undertaken by three individual artists who have used nature as the catalyst for their creativity and inspiration from the literal to the abstract inspiration provided by the textures, colors and sounds of the natural world. Although interlinked with one common theme the diverse nature of their paintings emphasizes their own personal paths and points of view expressed in their art. 

SAMIRA, MARYAM, MAHA

Ms. Samira Alshenoo - The artist's work is an integration of traditional Bahraini architecture and landscape. The work combines traditional buildings which are surrounded by tropical trees and plants renowned of the region. Culture, nature and tradition are key aspects of this artist's perspective.

Sh. Maryam Alkhalifa - The artist's work speaks of a deep admiration and love for Arabic horses and hawks. The artist uses painting techniques which reveal a contemporary style of design. In doing so the artist transforms the images of the horse and hawk from typical portraits and instead creates a new composition utilizing intricate stenciling details. Hence, offering an innovative perspective. 

Ms. Maha Almannai – The artist paints an emotional response to nature at a moment of awe. When you stand close to a painting it may appear as an Abstract artwork, yet from a distance, it may appear as a satellite image of earth.  The work evokes an emotional attachment to nature. The artist works with versatile and expressive techniques of freely applied paint using layering, dripping and carving for a dramatically textured finish.
