It took renowned Manama-born Bahraini artist Safiya Kanoo 35 years of tireless work to start producing the refined artworks she is known for today. Over the span, Kanoo focused her energy on pondering, absorbing, and analyzing the artworks and landscape paintings she saw in Bahrain and her travels abroad.
She started to translate these vivid visions and feelings onto canvas in 1980. Her first exhibition in 1983, entitled “Impressions”, showcased these early attempts which were characterized by an eclectic mix of various artistic influences and styles.
Safiya Kanoo recalls that time with her latest exhibition, “Impressions 2” that reflects the essence of her illustrious career spent in a never-ending quest of an artistic creativity that is inspired by the wonders of nature.
