The world-renowned Shakespeare’s Globe will perform Hamlet as part of its two-year world tour commemorating the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death and the first genuine world tour in theatre history.

Widely regarded as Shakespeare’s greatest play, the plot revolves around the Danish prince Hamlet, who, after learning of the king his father’s death, comes home to find his uncle married to his mother to take his place on the Danish throne. However, the ghost of the deceased king visits Hamlet and demands vengeance for his ‘foul and most unnatural murder’.

Encompassing political intrigue and sexual obsession, philosophical reflection and violent action, tragic depth and wild humour, Hamlet has been called Shakespeare’s ‘poem unlimited’, a colossus in the lore of the English language and the fullest expression of its author’s profound genius.

Featuring a diverse cast of traveling players, the thrilling show is co-directed by Dominic Dromgoole and Bill Buckhurst, with designs by Jonathan Fensom, and music by Bill Barclay and Laura Forrest-Hay.
