So much so that it has been designated as a UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage. Blessed with a voice that touches one’s very soul, Portuguese singer Mariza is one of the genre’s foremost ambassadors. For one night only, the Kingdom of Bahrain will bear witness to her vocal talents which she uses to embody the spirit of the genre, a spirit which can be encapsulated in four simple words: passionate, elegant, sensitive and melancholic. Known as “The Voice of Fado”, her talent garnered widespread critical acclaim as one of the most important singers in modern world music and won multiple prestigious international awards. She also became the first Portuguese singer nominated and awarded at the Grammy Awards.
