Wadi as Sail is a 4km wadi, which runs from southeast to nothwest in the middle of Bahrain. Although the number of burial mounds radically decreased due to the modern urban developments, it is estimated that there were originally over a thousand burial mounds along the wadi. This burial mound field is dated to 2200BC to 2050BC, the Early Dilmun formative phase. The Japanese Archaeological mission started excavations at the site in 2015 to reveal how the Dilmun civilization developed in Bahrain. This lecture will introduce preliminary results of the first and second missions.
