The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Co. (GPIC), is hosting a vibrating string instruments concert that will showcase not only famous Italian pieces but will merge mandolins, classic guitar and the Arab oud. HPQ Quartet with tenor Aldo Gallone and talented Iraqi Oud player Saad Mahmood Jawad will be combining their talents for an unforgettable musical evening. The concert aims at being a starting point for a closer collaboration between Italian and Bahraini/Arabic artists who share the same love for music and their cultural and artistic heritage.
HPQ Quartet and Aldo Gallone mean to speak about the only plectrum Quartet in the South of Italy, the most famous Italian quartet in the world. HPQ and Aldo Gallone share the purpose of studying and playing the original repertoire written for the mandolin and other instruments. The HPQ is formed by Antonio Schiavone (mandolin), Roberto Bascià (mandolin), Sergio Vacca (mandòla), Vito Mannarini (guitar) and Aldo Gallone (tenor), and are all maestros who graduated from the State Music School “Nicolò Piccinni” in Bari, Italy.
Saad Mahmood Jawad, also known as Fares Al-Oud, is originally Iraqi, but has spent most of his years in the Kingdom of Bahrain, teaching and performing. He graduated with "Excellence" from The Music Institute, Baghdad, 1997 – and has been performing around the world ever since.
HPQ Quartet with Tenor Aldo Gallone and Saad Jawad are preparing for an undoubtedly memorable musical evening.
