egyptian film starring sabah and ahmed mazhar. the plot involves a formerly landed aristocrat dispossessed by the 1952 egyptian revolution, and a young unemployed academic who has just finished writing a doctoral thesis, both of whom must adjust to the new social and political realities in a new socialist egypt. the film is based on a play of the same name by egyptian playwright tawfiq al-hakim.
