About the book:
This book speaks on suffering through the search for mystery and meaning, and on the concept of Hajj in human history. It is an exploration of the Creator and His creation, the temple, the mountains, the bell and the ascetic. Of the route, the distance and the path and on leading the way, slowly and steadily.

Fareed Ramadan

Introduction:
“Los Caprichos” by Francisco de Goya (that consists of 80 artworks), which was the inspiration behind this artwork, the idea of “Tareeq Al Hajj” was accomplished in 82 artworks. This art book that brings to life the last texts written by Fareed Ramadan and embody the core of his beliefs and journey in life, and at the same time represents Jamal Abdulrahim’s long experience in various printing techniques.
Stemming from such spiritual interrelation, they blend the words with images and travel together, each in his heart and in his own way.

Fareed passionately wished to complete this project, to have one last venture to revive the beginnings, to travel the distances, and to tell the stories once more. As the grip of illness strengthened, Fareed’s right hand waned and failed him. Yet, he continued to write with his left hand and deepen the meaning to touch the heart, thereby intensifying the meaning through simplifying the phrase …

They were joined by Abdul Elah Al Arab with his reed that has added calligraphy to many of Jamal’s artworks. “Tareeq Al Hajj” would prove to be the final path that Fareed Ramadan and Abdul Elah Al Arab would travel on together to its end. As Fareed wrote with his left hand, Al Arab’s reed trembled in his grip as it penned the end of the struggle with illness, and closed the curtains on two warriors whose weapons were the reed and the pen, which they used to champion enlightenment and liberation between the challenges of life.
