On the occasion of Arab Tourism Day, the Modern Dance Theatre Company presents a performance evoking one of the ancient pharaohs of Egypt, choreographed and directed by Walid Aouni. Akhenaten is an exceptional historical figure who stirred controversy as he strived to lay the foundations of what is mental perfection and total harmonization with the essence of life. This show is a door into history, embodying the personality of this pharaoh, his relationship with his contemporaries and his life mission — a unified religion, launched over 3000 years ago, that transcends man and depends on the sanctification of the sun ad light. In addition, his conflict with the priests of Amun and the rejection of his principles are explored through these expressive contemporary dances and theatrical scenes seeking to decipher Akhenaten’s state of mind.
