The history of pearl trade in the Kingdom of Bahrain dates back to nearly seven thousand years ago with an amazing story to tell. The site “Pearling: A Testament of an Island Economy”, which was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List in June 2012, is a living example of ancient cultural traditions of this industry centered on the old city of Muharraq.

In celebration of International Museums Day, Bahrain Culture Authority, keen to enhance the importance of this major cultural site, given its crucial role to reflect and define the very essence of pearl trade in the history of the island of Bahrain, launched, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and within BACA’s 2021 year-long theme “Pearl Path”. The pioneering duel endeavor is cultural competition aimed to highlight the Pearling Path project, introduce children and youth to its history, encouraging them to come up with creative different works of art, whether drawing, sculpture, crafts, graphic design, and filmmaking.

Therefore, after finishing the collection process of artworks participating in the competition, we are pleased to share with you the multitude of beautiful and creative artistic ideas presented by our children and youth.
