In celebration of World Tourism Day, which is celebrated on September 27, 2022, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities will organize a Training Workshop: The Young Tour Guide,  in cooperation with the University Of Bahrain - College of Literature - Department of Media, Tourism and Arts.

Introduction: 

Tourist guiding has an important and multifaceted role in the contemporary tourism sector labor market, given that it has become one of the promising and required skills today. Indeed, museums have become the main cultural tourism heritage destinations that attract visitors and tourists from different countries of the world. This training workshop comes to increase knowledge, update and refresh information for the participants, and to focus on the knowledge and skills that a tour guide should possess. How a tourist guide should deal with his audience, learning the art of dealing with tourist groups and visitors to the museums of the Kingdom of Bahrain are among the topics of this course.


Objectives of the Training Course:

• Identify the importance of museums in the tourism process and their role in revitalizing tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
• Learn about the role of all types of tour guides, their role in the tourism process, and the skills they must have for the success of the tour.
• Create a spirit of fun and competition by participating in a Scavenger Hunt competition at the end of the course.

• Introduction to museums’ interpretation and their historical evolution and development.
• The importance of museums as major tourist destinations and their role in social education awareness.
• The different types of museums.
• Museums in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
• Tourist Guidance throughout History.
• Tour Guide Essentials
• Museum Tour Guide
• Spreading awareness about the importance of tourist guidance in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
• Field visits to the most important tourist attractions, archaeological sites, historical houses, ancient forts and museums in the Kingdom of Bahrain
Practical skills:
The course includes practical tourist guiding skills implemented in the following venues:
1. Museums’ tour guides, as well as historical forts, and heritage traditional homes.
2. Communication and public speaking skills.
3. Mastering tourist controversial inquiries.
4. The importance of creating an entertaining joyful atmosphere during the tourist tour visits.
5. Etiquette and protocol.
6. People with special needs and delicate care policy


Certificates:

Certificates will be awarded to students after passing the course
