on the occasion of the international day to combat desertification and drought, which is s a united nations observance celebrated each year on 17 june, the bahrain authority for culture and antiquities organizes a cultural lecture entitled " enhancing awareness about desertification in the kingdom of bahrain" presented by dr. sabah al-junaid. this event comes as part of the culture authority's efforts to support the government's aspirational directions to promote a culture of combating land degradation and addressing the root causes of the problem resulting from complex interactions between physical and biological factors at the national and local levels. indeed, the kingdom has launched several activities related to combating desertification in various sectors, including land use planning and conservation, managing water supply and demand, promoting sustainable agriculture, soil conservation, and sustainable management and conservation of natural resources.
