The Embassy of Malaysia in Manama in cooperation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) is organizing the first Malaysian Film Festival in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Malaysia and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Malaysian Film Festival will be held for three days, showcasing three of Malaysia’s best films with three different genres namely, autism awareness, football-themed and animation film for the very first time to the audience in Bahrain. The three chosen movies are Guang, Ola Bola and BoBoiBoy: The Movie 2.

Each of these films have made Malaysians proud by winning international awards such as the Best Short Film, Best International Film, Best Original Theme Song among others. The animated movie, for instance has been shown in more than 50 countries and dubbed in multiple languages, with its own fan base in the animation industry.

These selections of movies are chosen to share what Malaysia is, and what makes a Malaysian to the people of Bahrain for a greater understanding and appreciation of Malaysia as a country. Through these movies, we also hope that Bahrainis and the community in Bahrain could also see the similarities that our country shares and embrace the warm and brotherly relations that have been forged 50 years ago between our beloved countries.
