Join us in celebrating one of Bahrain’s cherished traditions at the Heya Beya Celebration, a cultural event dedicated to preserving the legacy of this beloved ritual passed down through generations. Organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the event will take place on June 4 at the Qal’at Al Bahrain Site Museum, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
Heya Beya is a beautiful tradition where children gather at the seashore to gently toss their Heya Beyas—woven baskets adorned with plants—into the sea, symbolizing hope, gratitude, and connection to nature. This event offers a meaningful opportunity for young participants to learn about and take part in this unique cultural heritage.
The celebration begins with a live storytelling session, where a traditional storyteller will captivate the children with the tale of Heya Beya and its origins. Through engaging narration, children will discover the history, meaning, and spirit behind the custom.
Following the storytelling, a traditional music band will bring the atmosphere to life with lively Bahraini rhythms, enriching the experience with the sounds of local heritage.
Come celebrate with us and be part of a living tradition at this family-friendly cultural gathering. All are welcome!
