10 January 2013 Minister of Culture receives Japanese delegation

Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa received the Soka Gakkai International Representative Tadashi Tagai along with Japanese Ambassador Shigeki Sumi and the UN Information Centre Director Najib Friji.

 H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, the culture minister, praised the positive cultural exchange between Japan and Bahrain, saying “We will witness more than one cultural demonstration to reflect the Japanese art".

They discussed organising a photography exhibition reflecting the negative effects of nuclear weapons on humanity.

Mr. Sumi thanked the minister's efforts to improve the cultural and tourism scene in the Kingdom, stressing the need to enhance the tourism and cultural ties between both countries.

Soka Gakkai International is known for its worldwide activities against nuclear weapons and one of the organizers of the planned Nuclear Weapons Abolition Summit in 2015 which aims to free the world of nuclear weapons by 2020.

Mr. Friji praised the creative efforts of the Culture Ministry which puts Bahrain among the top Arab countries making an effort to uplift and preserve their cultural heritage and international tourism.
