Renowned Iraqi songstress Fareeda Mohammed Ali enchanted the audiences which packed the Cultural Hall on Thursday night (Sept 5) for her concert, which was one of the main highlights of the 2013 Bahrain Summer Festival.

Known simply as “Fareeda” and dubbed “The First Lady of Iraqi Maqam”, the Iraqi artist is a leading cultural ambassador of the Arab world and one of the preeminent female vocalists of her generation. In her concert, she transported the capacity crowd to a bygone era as she performed some of her best known works from her vast musical catalogue, which includes over a dozen top-selling albums and collaborations with leading Arab music producers and poets.

The 2013 edition of the Bahrain Summer Festival’s successful run of shows will conclude with the Bollywood-inspired music and dance extravaganza “Mystic India”, which will hold two shows on September 8-9 at 8 pm at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center. Tickets for the show are available at Virgin Megastores in Bahrain City Center.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture from August 18 – September 9 under the slogan “A Journey of Joy”, the popular annual festival takes place this year during the leisure tourism season of the ministry’s Manama Capital of Arab Tourism 2013 program.
