Bab-al Bahrain’s Heritage Showcased at the 29th Janadriah Festival
The Kingdom of Bahrain is taking part in the Saudi 29th Janadriah Folk Heritage Festival, which held between 13-22 February 2014. The old iconic décor of Bab-al Bahrain details and historical, cultural, social economic mosaic will be showcased during this annual festival to present different image of Bahrain’s history and heritage and to reinforce the brotherly solid relationships between the two countries.
H.E Shaikh Khalid bin Hmood Al Khalifa, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism asserted that Bahrain’s participation at Janaderiah Festival reflects the strong ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, adding that Bahrain is the first GCC country to take part in this annual folk festival.
H.E Shaikh Khalid bin Hmood Al Khalifa expressed his gratitude and thanks to “ Diyar Al Muharraq” CEO, Dr. Maher Al Shaer, and to “ Durrat Al-Bahrain” company for their support and cooperation with the Ministry of Culture for the success of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pavilion at the festival. Indeed, Bahrain’s participation is very significant, given the 2000 square metres space pavilion, covering cultural and tourism activities presentation.
The pavilion includes also promotion section for the rising new real estate projects, such as “ Diyar al-Muharrq”, Durrat Al Bahrain, and another one for Bahrain Formula 1 race together with hotel booking facilities. Cultural events section, development of Saudi-Bahraini relationships throughout history, heritage and crafts section, aiming at selling and promoting handcrafts outside Bahrain, and another popular Bahraini menus and foods are also among the exhibited assets.
Daily events will be organized during this Janaderiah festival, such as Galali Popular Arts Group, which will revive the sea music folklore heritage.
Founded in 1984 by King Fahd ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz, Jenadriyah Heritage and Cultural Festival has become one of the most important festivals in the Arabic world with 5 to 8 million visitors each year. The country's first National Heritage and Folk Culture Festival, features folk dancers, camel races, good food and poetry. The folk festival gave Saudis and foreign visitors a chance to slow down and take a closer look at the social tableau of an earlier era. As one middle-aged Saudi at the fair put it, the festival provided the opportunity to see life as it was "in the days of our fathers and grandfathers."
