As part of the preparations to launch "Manama Capital of Asian Tourism 2014" this month, Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism, H.E Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al-Khalifa met Asian Cooperation Dialogue secretary-general Bundit Limschoon and discussed preparations to launch the continental event. Foreign Ministry Assistant-Undersecretary for Arab and Afro-Asian Affairs and Organisations Shaikha Rana Al-Khalifa attended the session.
This came after the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), which convened in Bahrain on November26 declared "Manama .. Capital of Asian Tourism2014". Indeed, Manama has been declared Capital of Asian Tourism for 2014, whereby around Thirty-three delegations taking part in the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) crowned the capital of Bahrain. The proposal was submitted by Culture Minister H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa at the inaugural session of the 12th ACD ministerial meeting and was endorsed unanimously. The Asian honour acknowledges the centuries-old historical heritage of Manama, already consecrated as Capital of Arab Culture (2012) and Capital of Arab Tourism (2013). Back at the conference, the Minister of Culture hailed the Asian honour which recognized Manama, as an iconic and cosmopolitan city and a long-standing crossroad for cultures and civilisations, lauding the atmosphere of peaceful co-existence and tolerance.
Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism, H.E Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al-Khalifa, for his part outlined the general strategy to celebrate this remarkable event party, which will include a grand Asian Crafts exhibition, different shows, Asian weeks in Bahrain in cooperation with Asian Embassies in Bahrain and vice versa. The events are expected to boost tourism in these countries, in addition to visits by Asian journalists to Bahrain to get acquainted with the culture, history and means of promoting the Kingdom of Bahrain.
