Bahrain Culture Days in Egypt; Fine Arts Exhibition and Music Concerts

 

Bahrain Cultural Days got underway in Cairo today and will continue till November 23. The event features a fine arts gallery bringing together seven artists, three concerts by Mohammed bin Faris troupe and the announcement of Bahrain Book Award 2014 on the role of arts in developing societies.

The Bahraini Culture Days in Egypt kicked off with a dual press conference by H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Minister of Culture, and her Egyptian counterpart Dr. Jaber Asfoor, who praised the function which sheds light on the richness of the Bahraini culture. He stressed the strong and deep-rooted relations between Bahrain and Egypt, commending the efforts of Bahrain Culture Ministry, spearheaded by Minister Shaikha Mai, in promoting Arab culture. This year’s version was devoted to Egypt’s writers and researchers focusing on the “Role of Art in Raising Society’s Creative Development” as the main theme.

H.E Shaikha Mai inaugurated Bahrain Fine Arts Gallery in Mohsin Shalan Hall at the Modern Art Museum, in the presence of her Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Jaber Asfoor, H.E Shaikh Rachid Bin Abdulrahman Al-Khalifa, the Bahraini Ambassador to Egypt and a number of Bahraini intellectuals and art lovers.

The Bahraini Minister of Culture expressed her gratitude and appreciation to her Egyptian counterpart for the warm welcome accorded to the Bahraini delegation, emphasizing the importance of culture for societies and expressing happiness about dedicating this year's Bahrain Book Award to Egyptian authors. Since the Ministry of Culture strongly believes that art is universal language, a code of love between refined hearts, a varied selection of Bahraini arts were presented at Mohsen Al-Shaalan Hall. These works include Bahraini paintings by artists with different trends and from different school of thought, such as masterpieces by Abdulraheem Sharif, Balqees Fakhro, Ibrahim Bu Saad, Khalil al-Hashemi, Hala Al-Khalifa, Adnan al-Ahmad and Hadeer al-Baqali.

Mohammad Bin Faris Music Band performed traditional music during three nights (13th, 14th, 15th), starting with a concert at the National Egyptian Theater, Arab Music Institute during the following two days. The Mohammed Bin Faris band performed a selection of gifted young musician’s compositions, faithful to the spirit of traditional Bahraini music, which they inherited from their ancestors and they are keen to preserve and develop its ancient origins.

Bahrain received the invitation by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, which reflects the special genuine relations between both countries and an honor to share many common universal artistic and human values.
