For the 7th consecutive year, H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, president of Bahrain Authority for Culture &Antiquities (BACA), continues to embrace the cultural manifestations produced by young talented Bahraini youth, as reflected in the annual Ta’a al-Shabab’s festival. The general meeting was held at the Cultural Hall on 13 April 2015 to discuss the program of the organizing committee for this year and to review the last six years achievements and aspirations for future creative ideas.
During the meeting, H.E Shaikha Main stressed the importance of continuing the journey to celebrate Bahraini youth and expand horizons through an increasing number of volunteers despite many challenges. H.E said, “We count on you to overcome obstacles and challenges ahead”, while also calling for youth to get close to people and listen to their ideas in order to anchor the first seeds of culture, adding, “ Get close with people in the street and work effectively through the door-to-door policy” .
The meeting started with an introduction of the Ta’a al-Shabab initiative with a welcoming message by the festival’s general coordinator, Aesha Al-Shaer, who spoke about Ta’a al-Shabab as a pioneering youth initiative, spearheaded by the then Ministry of Culture, and as special artistic show that encapsulates the visions and aspirations of the youth for the future. The ‘Harmony’ initiative band performed a musical piece commemorating the founder of Ta’a al-Shabab, the late Mohammad Al-Banki.
The program also included a presentation of the ‘Nine Initiatives’ by Ta’a al-Shabab, starting with – ‘We all Read’, which emphasizes active reading and pursuit of knowledge, ‘Darayesh’, which focuses on various aspects of architecture and the culture of places and memories, ‘Tashkeel’, which focuses on fine arts as a tool for communication and expression, ‘Technique’, which deals with the effects of modern technology and communication channels.
Ms. Aesha Al-Shaer then presented ‘Premiere’ initiative, which deals with the art of movie making and cinema industry, ‘Hayat’ initiative which concentrates on healthy life style and sports, ‘Harmony’ initiative with all its beautiful music performances and lyrics, ‘Theater’ initiative aiming at the development and promotion of different forms of theatrical performances, and last but not least, ‘Hafawa’, a tribute to legacies of late intellectual luminaries from the Arab World. The meeting finally presented the festival supporting, PR, and IT committees.
