Stretching back thousands of years, the Bahrain Music Band performed a gorgeous concert on 28 April 2015 at the Cultural Hall as part of the 23rd Annual Heritage Festival. Bahraini music, not being subject to the constraints of the history of images and the optical transformations of culture, moves in a space far more fluid and free, liberated from the ideology of history, and circulates unambiguously between the local and the global, the indigenous and the avant-garde, the minimal and the elaborate.
The concert is considered one of the monthly music performances initiated by Culture & Antiquities Authority celebrating Arab music heritage under the theme ‘Our Heritage… Our Wealth’. The Bahrain Music Band performed a number of different songs and national rhythms, which best reflect the creativity of the Bahraini music and its capacity to recall history and revive memories of time and place.
The cultural hall audience enjoyed last nights selection of beautiful genuine Bahraini songs, such as ‘Drop my tear’, ‘Doves’, ‘How much I miss you’, in addition to pieces performed by the band mixing old popular songs with modern new interpretations.
The Bahrain Music Band was established in 1996, and has represented the kingdom of Bahrain in official celebrations, whether nationally or internationally since then. The last participation was during Aseela Cultural Festival, Morocco, when Bahrain was welcomed as guest of honour in the new edition of the festival in 2014. The band constantly offers new opportunities for Bahrain’s talented musicians and composers
The Bahrain Music Band concert at the Cultural Hall comes as part of the 23rd edition of Bahrain Annual Heritage Festival, which kicked off on 22 April in the presence of H.E Shaikh Isa bin Salman Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, under the Patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. His Majesty has been patronizing the inauguration of this annual festival since its inception in 1992 reflecting the belief that heritage is a key cornerstone that shapes Bahraini personality and a bridge to the future.
