H.E Receives Etihad Airways Northern Gulf General Manager

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, president of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA), received on 9 December 2015, a delegation from Etihad Airways company led by the general manager for Northern Gulf Hussam Al-Aseeri.

The meeting discussed cooperation between BACA and Northern Gulf which will be the main sponsor of the Cultural Tourism Passport Award by providing winners with 21 travel tickets. The names of the winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the Arab Regional Center for World Heritage on December 18 as part of the Kingdom's festivities to mark the National and Accession Days.

The Cultural Tourism Passport, launched in October 2015, is an invitation for citizens and visitors to have a taste of Bahrain's long-standing heritage and see 21 cultural and tourism milestones. Visitors are requested to return their passports to the Bahrain National Museum, after sealing all the pages which feature the chosen cultural and tourism sites, so as to enter the draw on a trip abroad. The program is part of BACA-led efforts to promote Bahrain on the map of tourism as a prized cultural hub in the region and the world.

H.E Shaikha Mai thanked Mr. Al-Aseeri and Etihad Airways for their support towards the cultural movement in Bahrain, pointing out the need for concerted efforts to preserve cultural heritage. H.E highlighted the importance of culture in spearheading sustainable economic, tourism and social development, adding that Bahrain’s deeply rooted history and ancient civilizations are the core basis for cultural tourism.

The Mr. Hussam Al-Aseer, for his part, lauded the strenuous efforts deployed by Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) to promote and enhance the cultural movements in Bahrain, voicing his readiness to support the cultural tourism passport project.
