H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities President, received yesterday the Italian ambassador to Bahrain Alberto Vecchi. H.E Shaikha Mai discussed with her guest, Ambassador Vecchi, the many available possibilities of carrying out joint cultural, intellectual, and tourism functions between the two countries and ways to consolidate joint cultural cooperation to enrich Manama's experience this year, themed ‘Our heritage, Our Wealth’. H.E Shaikha Mai said that Manama is keen to consolidate its cultural experience through openness to the world, noting that Italy's cultural experience is among the most important globally. H.E called for the need to reinforce cultural exchange between the two countries through setting up projects which are based on rapprochement between civilizations and promote human values.

H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities President also updated the Italian ambassador about the main developments regarding Bahrain's participation in Expo Milano 2015, set to be held in Italy from May to November, 2015. H.E expressed delight at the kingdom's participation in such a global event, which provides a platform for world's civilizations and implements a new dialogue between different world cultures and civilizations, hosted by an ancient deeply-rooted Italian tradition.

The Italian Ambassador affirmed the importance of building bridges of cultural interaction between the two countries, lauding Bahrain's experience in promoting its successive civilizations. The Italian ambassador added that the Bahrain’s participation in Milano Expo 2015 is a strong indicator of the kingdom's distinguished cultural potentials, as well as the cultural development witnessed by the region. Ambassador Alberto Vicki affirmed the need to build bridges of cultural communication among various civilizations, highlighting Bahrain's ability to enrich the cultural field at the regional and global arena, given its rich history and civilization. He lauded the kingdom's achievements so far regarding its participation in Expo Milano 2015, citing Bahrain’s pavilion as the first pavilion whose construction has been completed amongst 50 other national pavilions from around the world. The Italian ambassador said that he was looking forward to carrying out many cultural projects in the future in cooperation with BACA.
