H.E Shaikha Mai Receives Saudi Ambassador

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities president (BACA), received the Saudi ambassador to Bahrain, H.E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulmalik Al-Shaikh on 15 March 2015.The meeting aimed to bolster joint cooperation and take advantage of bilateral cultural and social rapprochement to implement joint cultural projects. During the meeting, they reviewed the distinguished relations between the two countries and their progress in all fields.

H.E Shaikha Mai lauded the bilateral relations and highlighted the joint cultural movement that reflected the historic depth of human ties. H.E pointed out that Saudi Arabia has played a prominent role in enriching the Bahraini cultural scene through various cultural contributions, including the recent exhibition ‘Modern and Contemporary Saudi Art, The Al-Mansouria Collection’, held in Bahrain National Museum. H.E expressed delight and gratitude for the bilateral cooperation, involving cultural and historical components in light of Manama's heritage festival 2015 themed ‘Our Year of Heritage’.

H.E Dr. Al-Shaikh, for his part, highlighted the crucial and outstanding role Bahrain is playing in reflecting the region's authentic culture through multiple activities and festivals, pointing out that Bahrain has become a major destination for Gulf and Arab tourists. H.E added that cultural relations between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain is considered a unique kind of cultural historical relationship because there is a considerable overlap between the two cultures and peoples.
